2025, a record year for the National Lottery

The National Lottery closed 2025 with unprecedented results. Total bets reached €1.666 billion, a historic record for the Belgian public operator.

Record turnover: €1.666 billion wagered

According to the National Lottery‘s official press release, total bets by Belgian players amounted to €1.666 billion in 2025 — an all-time record.

EuroMillions, the iconic European lottery game, was the most played game in 2025 with 67.3 million plays recorded. Extended jackpot cycles, often accompanied by high amounts, prompted many casual and regular players to try their luck, contributing to the explosion in total betting volume.

Innovation driving growth

2025 was not just a year of impressive figures. The National Lottery innovated in its approach, notably by revamping the Lotto game and introducing attractive new offers such as the monthly Dream House draw.

This diversification of games has contributed to a significant increase in digital sales, with a 47% increase in digital bets on the last Saturday of each month, a sign that these new features have attracted a wider audience.

The National Lottery’s digital transition is a pillar of its success. In 2025, the digital channel accounted for nearly 30% of total bets, with €494 million recorded, representing growth of nearly 20% compared to 2024. More than 2.36 million players were identified on digital platforms, including 1.25 million active players during the year.

The growth in turnover was accompanied by an increase in winnings paid out to players. In 2025, the National Lottery redistributed €1.266 billion through 117.2 million winning moments, an increase of 17% compared to the previous year.

Social mission: beyond gaming

The National Lottery emphasises that its mission goes beyond gaming. By its very nature, a significant percentage of stakes are donated to social, cultural and sporting projects throughout Belgium. In 2024, this effort supported nearly 1,884 different projects, reinforcing its role as a social actor.

By 2025, the organisation estimates that its contribution to society could reach €370 million, a significant increase on the previous year, illustrating its ability to meet the growing needs of Belgian society.

“A record is good. But what we are really proud of is remaining a popular, responsible lottery that serves the country. At the National Lottery, you never win alone,” explains CEO Jannie Haek.

The year 2025 will remain a turning point for the Belgian National Lottery. By combining economic performance, product innovation and social commitment, the National Lottery has established itself as a model of success in the Belgian gaming landscape.
