The 888 online casino is now under fire from the Dutch authorities. The Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) has opened proceedings against the company after finding that its customer service was not sufficiently accessible.
The formal notice: when a regulator says stop
In the autumn of 2025, the Kansspelautoriteit sent an official warning to the operator operated by Godwits Limited, holder of the licence for the 888.nl Dutch market.
The reason? An unsatisfactory level of customer service availability and management, in breach of the requirements set out in the Gambling Act. The Ksa explained that it had been alerted on several occasions by complaints from players who were unable to obtain quick or clear contact, or who were not receiving appropriate responses to their queries. In short: the expected standard was not being met.
Shortcomings identified
What form did the shortcomings identified by the Ksa take?
- The waiting time to reach an agent was deemed excessive, or the agent was unavailable.
- Customer requests or complaints were not followed up satisfactorily.
The Ksa warning states that these shortcomings constitute a breach of the regulations in force, and that if 888.nl does not make the expected improvements quickly, more severe sanctions – including fines – could follow.
