Bagnoles-de-l’Orne spins the wheel of responsible gaming

To mark European Responsible Gaming Week, the JOA casino in Bagnoles-de-l’Orne is innovating with a brand new event: ‘Excess or pleasure, the fun prevention wheel’. It’s an original way of reminding people that gambling should remain a pleasure, never a risk.

A European event in the heart of the Orne region

Every year, European Responsible Gaming Week brings together hundreds of industry players with a common goal: to remind people that gambling should remain a pleasure, not a risk. The JOA casino in Bagnoles-de-l’Orne is fully committed to this approach by organising a unique event on Friday 14 November 2025 at 4pm called ‘Excess or pleasure: the wheel of fun prevention’.

The event, which is open to all, will be held at the casino’s Bar des Sports in a relaxed but highly educational atmosphere. The initiative is led by the JOA group, in partnership with the Association Addiction France and the establishment’s responsible gaming representatives.

Gambling without losing yourself: a caring and interactive approach

The principle is simple: each participant spins a wheel and answers various questions about responsible gaming. The topics covered range from key figures on gaming in France to knowledge of gambling, including good habits to adopt and support solutions available for those who feel they need them.

Clémentine Rapin, Head of Player Prevention at the JOA Group:

“This interactive and light-hearted activity aims to raise awareness among players and visitors about responsible gambling, while offering a moment of sharing and relaxation. We are keen to remind people that gambling should above all remain a pleasure. With this fun wheel, we offer an accessible and friendly approach to talking about prevention in a different way.”

A moment of sharing rather than a lecture

In Bagnoles, the prevention message is conveyed without austerity. On the contrary, the event aims to reconcile information and conviviality. At the end of the event, players will be able to chat with the prevention team, enjoy a friendly snack, and leave with a few goodies as souvenirs.

Far from being alarmist, this campaign aims to encourage dialogue on a subject that is sometimes taboo: losing control when gambling. While gambling is a source of entertainment for many, it can become a source of suffering for some. By opening up this space for discussion, the casino has chosen to talk about responsible gambling without judgement.

For Pierre-François Cialdella, the group’s marketing manager, this policy is part of a sustainable approach:

“Responsible gaming has been at the heart of the JOA group’s strategy since its creation. Its ’Mission Responsable” programme, rolled out in the group’s 33 casinos, is based on three pillars: informing and raising customer awareness about responsible gaming; training and involving employees in prevention, supporting players in their efforts to seek help or moderate their gambling.”

A local dynamic for a global challenge

The Bagnoles event is also attracting attention because it is part of a broader European movement. Responsible Gaming Week aims to harmonise prevention practices across the continent by highlighting inspiring local initiatives.

Casinos, long perceived as places of risk, are now becoming spaces for awareness-raising and listening. Collaboration with specialist associations such as Addiction France ensures the credibility and depth of this approach.
