Clubs ordered to remove casino logos by the Ksa

In the Netherlands, the world of sport is about to turn a decisive page. The gambling authority, the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa), has issued a clear ultimatum: by 6 October 2025, no club, influencer or platform will be allowed to display any sponsor linked to casinos or online betting.

Ultimatum from the Kansspelautoriteit

In the Netherlands, the Ksa is raising its voice. It has set 6 October 2025 as the deadline for removing all traces of logos or references to casinos from the shirts, websites and social networks of sports clubs.

Despite the law, some teams and platforms continue to display betting brands. On Instagram, there are still posts with banned sponsors in the background. The Ksa insists that the responsibility lies as much with the casinos as with the clubs. Even old posts must be removed.

Financial penalties feared

The threat is clear: after 6 October, substantial fines will be imposed. The precedent set by influencer Turcos, which was ordered to withdraw promotional content or face heavy penalties, illustrates the Ksa’s firm stance.

Groups operating both physical casinos and online platforms are under particular scrutiny. The rule is strict: advertising is only tolerated for land-based activities. Any promotion of digital services is prohibited. The Ksa is even considering tightening the legislation further, fearing that some players are playing on the ambiguity between their two branches.

A new era for Dutch sport

The end of partnerships between clubs and casinos marks a turning point. Sport, long a commercial showcase for gaming operators, will have to rethink its funding model. The next few months will tell whether the stringent regulations will protect consumers while preserving the balance of the sporting landscape.
