Since 1 October 2024, the Belgian Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (CTIF-CFI) has been using a new online reporting application, goAML, which is now the sole communication tool between CTIF-CFI and reporting entities.
The aim of this initiative is to modernise and strengthen the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing in Belgium.
What is goAML?
Developed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), goAML is a tool specifically designed for financial intelligence units. It offers a modern, user-friendly platform, facilitating communication and reporting for reporting entities.
goAML was introduced in response to the need for a more efficient and secure system for processing reports of suspected money laundering and terrorist financing. This platform enables better management of information and more in-depth analysis of the data received.
End of the old Oris application
From 1 June 2024, the old Oris web application will be decommissioned and CTIF-CFI will no longer accept paper declaration forms. Only the new goAML application will be able to be used to send your declarations. The aim of this transition is to centralise and completely digitise the declaration process, thereby guaranteeing greater efficiency and traceability of the information transmitted.
From this date, all taxable entities must ensure that they have completed their goAML registration to avoid any interruption in the transmission of declarations.
goAML registration procedure
To access goAML, reporting entities must follow a pre-registration procedure:
- Access to the support site: Go to https://goaml.ctif-cfi.be and click on e-mail address protected against spambots.
- Sending the generated e-mail: An e-mail is generated automatically; send it as is.
- Receive password link: You will receive a confirmation e-mail containing a link entitled ‘Password Link’.
- Create password: Follow the link, enter and confirm the password of your choice.
- Log in to the support site: Use your e-mail address and chosen password to log in to the support site.
Once logged in, you’ll have access to all the technical and practical documentation available.
Training and documentation
To facilitate the transition to goAML, CTIF-CFI offers training resources:
- Video guides and manuals: Available on the support site, these resources detail the steps for connecting to the application and creating your entity and, if necessary, your users.
- Technical documentation: Specific documents are available for entities wishing to automate their declaration process further.
Advantages of goAML
There are several advantages to adopting goAML:
- Increased efficiency: A single platform for all declarations, reducing processing times.
- Enhanced security: Advanced security protocols to protect sensitive data.
- Regulatory compliance: Ensures compliance with legal obligations to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
