More than 700 platforms on the GC blacklist

Faced with the proliferation of platforms operating without authorisation, the Gaming Commission is regularly strengthening its regulatory arsenal to protect players. On 11 December 2025, the authority updated its blacklist, adding 19 illegal gambling sites.

19 new sites banned

On 11 December 2025, the Gaming Commission (GC) published a major update to its blacklist of illegal gambling websites accessible from Belgium. As European regulators step up their vigilance against the expansion of unauthorised platforms, 19 new domains have been officially added to the list of banned sites, strengthening the protection of Belgian players and the regulation of the digital gambling market.

This initiative is a continuation of the Commission’s work, which since 2012 has maintained a public register of illegal platforms to prevent the risks associated with accessing these sites without a Belgian licence. The aim is clear: to prevent unlicensed operators from offering gambling to Belgian players, while reducing exposure to fraudulent practices or uncontrolled risks of addiction.

Why is this blacklist constantly changing?

For several years now, the Belgian Gaming Commission has noted that many foreign sites are trying to attract Belgian players without having the correct licence. Without regulation, these platforms escape the strict standards imposed by Belgian gambling law, exposing users to financial risks or fraud.

The frequent updating of the blacklist is a response to these digital challenges: any domain operating without a licence can be added to the register. Internet service providers and search engines are then encouraged to block access to these sites from Belgian territory.

Who is targeted by these blocks?

The sites added to this new update do not have a licence issued by the GC, which means that they have not met the strict requirements imposed by Belgian gambling legislation. In Belgium, any operator wishing to offer online gambling must obtain a specific licence issued by the Commission, which guarantees in particular the security of players, the fairness of the games and compliance with responsible gambling rules.

How do you protect yourself when playing online?

For Belgian players, the most important thing to do before registering with an online gambling site is to check that they have a valid licence from the Gambling Commission. Legal platforms generally display a logo or authorisation number on their site, proving that they meet the requirements of Belgian legislation.

Conversely, a site that is not on the list of authorised operators or is blacklisted should be considered dangerous and avoided. Apart from the risk of losing money, there is no recourse mechanism if something goes wrong.

The GC also provides support and information tools for players, to promote responsible gambling behaviour in a safe and controlled environment. These resources are essential to prevent addiction or unexpected financial losses.
