A woman from Michigan has won $100,000 in the Powerball lottery. She based her choice on numbers generated by an AI chatbot.
Tammy Carvey is 45 years old and only decided to buy a ticket when the jackpot exceeded a billion dollars. She asked a chatbot for a series of Powerball numbers. And they turned out to be the right ones.
Four of the AI-generated numbers were correct
Tammy played with the numbers she received through the system. To her surprise, this did not yield $50,000, as she had initially thought, but double that amount.
She had also ticked “Power Play” when buying her ticket. This doubled her winnings to $100,000. She only found this out when she checked her account.
She wants to pay off her mortgage and save the rest.
The woman travelled to the Michigan Lottery headquarters to collect her winnings. She said she wanted to use the money to pay off her mortgage. She will put the rest in her savings account.
She only plays when the jackpot is exceptionally high. This time, the money literally fell into her lap thanks to her unique choice of numbers.
She is not the only one who seeks gambling advice from technology
Tammy is not the first to seek help from technology. Shortly after her win, a grandmother from Virginia also used a chatbot for a lottery. She won $150,000.
