Blacklist: 8 new websites banned

On 24 April 2025, the Gaming Commission (GC) updated its blacklist of illegal online casinos, adding 8 new platforms. The move is aimed at strengthening the security of Belgian players in the face of the risks associated with unauthorised sites.

These sites, operating without a licence in Belgium, expose users to dangers such as fraud, lack of personal data protection and unfair gambling practices. The GC stresses the importance of playing only on licensed platforms to ensure a safe gaming experience.

Ongoing monitoring and the need for international cooperation

The GC maintains constant surveillance of the online gaming market to identify illegal sites. When an unauthorised site is detected, the Commission orders the operator to cease its activities in Belgium. In the event of non-compliance, sanction proceedings are initiated, and the site is added to the blacklist, leading to its blocking by Belgian internet service providers.

The GC also stresses the importance of international cooperation to effectively combat illegal operators. Discussions are underway with the Curaçao authorities to strengthen cooperation and improve the recovery of fines.

A constantly evolving blacklist

The GC’s blacklist is regularly updated to include new sites identified as illegal. There are currently almost 600 platforms on the list, with new ones being added every month. This list is an essential tool for players wishing to check the legitimacy of an online casino.

The GC reminds Belgian players of the importance of checking the legitimacy of online gambling sites before signing up. Playing on approved platforms guarantees a secure gaming experience that complies with current legislation. The regular updating of the blacklist demonstrates the commitment of the Belgian authorities to protecting consumers and maintaining the integrity of the gambling market.
