Regulator sounds alarm over crypto and online gambling
The British Gambling Commission is sounding the alarm: crypto gambling is growing so fast that regulation cannot wait much longer.
The increase in gambling tax in the Netherlands was intended to boost government revenue. However, as the tax rate rises, warning signs are multiplying: a decline in expected revenues, increased pressure on operators and players turning to illegal gambling.
To mark European Responsible Gaming Week, the JOA casino in Bagnoles-de-l’Orne is innovating with a brand new event: ‘Excess or pleasure, the fun prevention wheel’. It’s an original way of reminding people that gambling should remain a pleasure, never a risk.
BetCity the well-known Dutch online gambling platform tried to stop the publication of a multi-million fine, but was not vindicated by the court. The Kansspelautoriteit may simply disclose the €2.65 million penalty imposed, despite BetCity’s pending appeal.
For several years now, Belgium has been actively combating unauthorised online gambling websites. On 04 November 2025, the Gambling Commission (GC) announced the update of its blacklist, with the addition of twelve new sites deemed illegal.
