European Safer Gambling Week 2026 announced

European Safer Gambling Week 2026 will take place from 16 to 22 November across Europe.

A rapidly growing initiative

European Safer Gambling Week will take place from 16 to 22 November 2026. Led by the EGBA, this pan-European initiative aims to raise public awareness whilst mobilising industry stakeholders to strengthen player protection.

In just a few years, European Safer Gambling Week has seen remarkable growth. With 221 partners across 24 countries, the campaign achieved an unprecedented level of participation in 2025. The impact on the public was also significant. Messages shared on social media reached 4.1 million users, a 32% increase compared to the previous year.

At the same time, 23 events were organised during the week, bringing together more than 2,500 participants. These meetings provided a practical forum for addressing the sector’s challenges, fostering dialogue between professionals, institutions and experts.

The 2025 edition was marked by a significant development: for the first time, messages from European Safer Gambling Week were broadcast during televised football matches as well as in physical retail outlets across Europe. This rollout reflects a commitment to reaching a wider audience, beyond just online users.

A clear ambition for 2026

Building on the success of the previous year, the EGBA intends to go even further in 2026. European Safer Gambling Week will once again rely on a combination of digital communication, events and online resources.

Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of the EGBA:

“Five years ago, it was a small initiative. Today, it reaches millions of people across Europe. This growth reflects the commitment of hundreds of organisations to promoting safe and sustainable gambling.”

European Safer Gambling Week forms part of a broader approach to regulating the gambling market.

The EGBA represents the leading licensed online gambling operators within the European Union. Its members hold 321 licences across 21 countries, each subject to strict requirements. In addition, there are internal standards covering, in particular, responsible advertising, anti-money laundering and player protection.

With the 2026 edition fast approaching, expectations are high. European Safer Gambling Week now enjoys significant visibility and a strong network of partners.
