Heritage Tombola: applications now open!
The National Lottery’s Heritage Tombola is now officially open for applications. The aim of this initiative is to finance the conservation and restoration of movable heritage objects in Belgium, with up to €150,000 per region available for selected projects. Institutions have until midday on 1 April to submit their applications.
A rare opportunity for museums and cultural institutions
The National Lottery’s registration platform is now open for the Heritage Tombola. Belgian museums and institutions have until midday on 1 April to submit their applications and hope to benefit from funding of up to €150,000.
The aim is to preserve and restore valuable items of Belgian movable heritage, while making them more accessible to the general public. At a time when many collections are suffering from a lack of conservation resources, this initiative could be a decisive turning point for works that are sometimes threatened by the passage of time.
The Heritage Tombola is being launched by the National Lottery in collaboration with Prométhéa, KIK-IRPA and museumPASSmusées.
Saving Belgium’s movable heritage
The call is aimed at museums and institutions working on a conservation or restoration project for movable heritage. This may involve a work of art, a historical object, an ethnographic piece or a collection requiring specialist intervention.
The winning project in each region could receive up to €150,000 in funding. This is a significant sum, capable of covering complex restoration work or ambitious preventive conservation. The other finalists will also benefit from financial support and professional guidance.
Applications can be submitted until midday on 1 April via the National Lottery’s dedicated platform.
The Tombola du Patrimoine offers institutions the opportunity to transform a technical necessity into a unifying project. Restoration also means explaining, contextualising and passing on information.
