Former lawyer Antti Koivula dives into the gambling industry: “This is my mission”
Antti Koivula is no stranger to the gambling industry. He has frequently been interviewed on Gambling Club, where he voiced his sharp opinions on regulation, innovation, and market access. Now, he is making a remarkable career move. Koivula is leaving law and joining Hippos ATG Oy as Chief Compliance Officer.
Hippos ATG Oy is a relatively new player in the Finnish gambling market, created through a partnership between:
- Hippos – the national equestrian organization in Finland
- ATG (AB Trav och Galopp) – the Swedish state-owned company responsible for organizing horse racing betting in Sweden
This partnership aims to enter the regulated Finnish gambling market, which is currently developing.
He shared the news with visible enthusiasm on social media:
“I am truly honored. I look forward to working with these top executives to build a modern and fair gambling market in Finland.”
Hippos ATG focuses on a regulated gambling market in Finland
Finnish company Hippos ATG Oy is embarking on a new journey. The company aims to become a strong player in the emerging regulated gambling market in Finland. Koivula will play a key role in this. He will lead compliance policy, ensuring that the company adheres to all regulations.
According to Koivula, it’s about more than just complying with regulations. He wants the company to be an example of transparency, fair play, and innovation.
“We want to set the standard, not follow it.”
An experienced team of directors supports this course
Koivula thanks CEO Mikael Bäcke and board members such as Hans Lord Skarplöth and Minna Mäenpää for their trust. He expresses his appreciation for the team, which welcomed him from day one.
In the coming period, he wants to build a solid foundation for growth together with this group. He will consider not only the legal framework, but also the player experience and the trust of society.
A personal mission for Koivula in a new role
What may seem like a business role to many is more than just work for Koivula. It’s a mission. He wants to make an impact and contribute to a responsible gambling market. Not by drafting boring documents, but by bringing real change to the sector.
Koivula is determined:
“I want to show that compliance isn’t a burden, but an opportunity. If you get it right, it makes your company stronger and more credible.”
