Online scam: PepperMill Casino victim of an illegal clone
The world of online gambling attracts enthusiasts and crooks alike. In recent weeks, an illegal site has stolen the visual identity of the famous Belgian establishment PepperMill Casino. Copied logos, identical banners… Everything seemed authentic at first glance. But behind the facade, there was no link with the legal parent company.
A disturbing imitation
The fraudulent site did more than simply wink at the official casino. It reproduces the graphic codes and images of the original site, but if a player clicks on one of the links on the page, they are immediately redirected to an external platform: Mostbet. It’s a strategy designed to deceive Internet users in search of entertainment and quick wins.
This disturbing similarity is a reminder of the extent to which the online gambling sector remains a prime target for cybercriminals.
Financial and legal risks
Registering on an illegal site is not without consequences. In addition to the lack of guarantees in the event of a dispute, players’ deposits often disappear into thin air. No regulation, no reliable customer service, no secure payment: everything depends on the trust that users place in a fictitious platform.
The authorities also point out that visiting such sites exposes players to prosecution. In Belgium, only casinos holding a licence issued by the Gaming Commission can offer online services. Any other platform is considered illegal.
Players’ vigilance put to the test
But how can you tell a legal site from an imitation? Experts recommend systematically checking the URL and consulting the official list of operators approved by the Gaming Commission.
PepperMill is not an isolated case. In recent years, several European casinos have been confronted with similar impersonations. Some pirates go so far as to buy online advertising to lure Internet users to their fake sites, further increasing the risk of confusion.
