The Bol brand used in an online casino scam
A new fraudulent campaign is currently circulating on social media in the Netherlands, misusing the branding of major companies such as Amazon, Netflix and now Bol to promote an illegal casino.
A well-oiled scheme to deceive internet users
According to observations shared publicly by Frank Kruit, an affiliate marketing specialist in the online gaming sector, nine active advertisements on Facebook and Instagram were promoting a so-called Bol Casino. These adverts were specifically visible to Dutch users.

The name and logo of Bol immediately bring to mind the well-known Belgian and Dutch online retailer, but these adverts are misleading.
By clicking on the advert, the user is redirected to a page mimicking an app download platform. The site, named bol-game.nl, displays all the visual cues of a trustworthy page: an impressive 4.9-star rating, over 102,900 downloads, and a polished interface. Once the user is convinced, they simply need to press Download. But instead of starting a download, they are immediately redirected to an illegal online casino called Casoola.
The misuse of official symbols
To reinforce the illusion, the creators of this campaign have no qualms about going even further. In some promotional images, the logo of the Dutch National Lottery appears on a casino building. By visually linking an official body to a fraudulent platform, the perpetrators seek to lend legitimacy to their offer.
The case of Bol Casino is not an isolated one. In his message, Frank Kruit cites a string of similar examples: Netflix Casino, Amazon Casino… These campaigns are part of an ecosystem where certain players exploit loopholes in advertising systems. In a recent study, researchers identified over 60,000 adverts for illegal casinos in a single month on Facebook.
By combining brand impersonation, misinformation and misleading redirects, this campaign puts both users and businesses at risk.
