The European Safer Gambling Week 2023 starts

Today marks the start of European Safer Gambling Week (ESGW). This is the annual campaign to increase awareness of responsible gaming in Europe. Founded by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) in 2021, this initiative is supported by 18 European online gambling associations, including the EGBA and the Belgian representative Belgian Association of Gaming Operators (BAGO).

The 3rd edition will take place in Brussels. In the presence of the Belgian Gaming Commission, the academia, operators, addiction preventive organisations and politicians, panel discussions and knowledge will be exchanged throughout the week about the best ways to protect vulnerable groups and prevent irresponsible gambling behavior.

“It is positive to see all these great developments in the field of player protection as the goal remains to create a safe playing environment.”

Anthony Rus, CEO Peppermill Casino

This year is proving to be an important meeting more than ever because the gambling market has been hit by the advertising ban that came into effect on July 1. Magali Clavie, President of the Belgian Gaming Commission, will eagerly await new initiatives with which online casinos guarantee player protection and can thus provide some response to persistent pressure from the political regulatory framework.
