EGBA welcomes Yaspa, a fast-growing fintech

Yaspa, a fintech specialising in open payments, has joined the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) as a new associate member. This strategic alliance reinforces the shared ambitions of the two entities: to make secure and fluid payments a pillar of trust in a constantly evolving digital environment.

A fintech player committed to transforming payments

Founded with the aim of simplifying and securing payments in complex environments such as gambling, Yaspa has rapidly established itself as a key solution in the world of open banking. Its inclusion in the EGBA marks a major recognition of its expertise.

In an enthusiastic statement, James Neville, CEO of Yaspa, said:

“We’re delighted to join EGBA as an associate member and to collaborate with some of the most forward-thinking companies in Europe’s online gambling sector. At Yaspa, we’re committed to driving payment innovation that enhances security, trust, and user experience for operators and their customers. We look forward to working closely with EGBA and its members to help shape the future of secure and seamless payments.”

Yaspa brings dual value: its ability to make transactions more fluid and to strengthen verification processes, a sensitive issue in regulated industries.

EGBA: a unified voice for a changing industry

The Brussels-based EGBA plays a central role in harmonising online gambling practices in Europe. Representing the main digital betting and gaming operators, it works to establish common standards, while respecting national legislation, but with a pan-European focus.

For Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of the EGBA, this new partnership is anything but trivial:

“We’re pleased to welcome Yaspa as an associate member and look forward to collaborating with their team. Their expertise in open banking payments and verification will be extremely valuable as we continue our efforts to raise industry standards and promote an online gambling environment that is safe, secure, and trusted by customers. By expanding our membership to include innovative fintech companies like Yaspa, we aim to better unite the broader industry’s voice and encourage technological solutions across all aspects of the sector.”

Yaspa’s membership allows the EGBA to better represent the diversity of the digital ecosystem, integrating technology players alongside traditional gaming operators.

A response to the challenges of security and regulation

The question of payments remains a crucial issue for the entire sector. With the rise of cyberthreats, the multiplication of national regulations and the need to guarantee player protection, control over financial flows is becoming a guarantee of reliability for gaming operators.

The integration of Yaspa meets this need to combine innovation and compliance. Thanks to its technologies, the fintech enables its partners to verify players’ identities automatically and process payments in near real time, while complying with European regulations (such as the PSD2 directive).

This know-how will be particularly useful to the EGBA in its work to standardise best practice in the area of payments within the European Union.

What role will fintechs play in the future of gambling?

Although Yaspa is one of the first to officially join the EGBA, it is unlikely to remain alone for long. Like the major sectoral groupings in other industries, the EGBA could become a hub for innovation and regulation, integrating ever more cross-disciplinary expertise.

With the arrival of Yaspa, the EGBA is enriching its ecosystem with an agile partner, capable of profoundly transforming the way in which European players interact with gaming platforms.
