No, Betway.be is no longer legal in Belgium. The site closed its doors to Belgian players on 26 August 2024. 

A site that has been inaccessible since August 2024

Since 26 August 2024, the Betway.be site has ceased all activity in Belgium. It is now impossible for players to log on or place a bet. The announcement came as a surprise to many regulars: the operator, which has been present in the country for a long time, discontinued its services without any detailed explanation. As of 19 August 2024, deposits had been blocked and betting suspended. Users then had a few days to close their accounts and withdraw their money.

In practical terms, Betway is no longer legal or active in Belgium. The withdrawal from the market applies to both online casino and sports betting activities, which were offered under two separate licences. The closure is therefore total: since the end of August, no Belgian can legally use Betway’s services.

Will Betway be able to return to Belgium?

Today, there is no indication that Betway is preparing a comeback. In theory, the operator could submit new licence applications, but it would have to create separate platforms for each gaming activity, in accordance with the law. In the meantime, the withdrawal seems definitive. Other licensed operators in Belgium have adapted to the new rules, but Betway has preferred to turn the page.

Can I access Betway with a VPN?

It is not recommended to use a VPN to play on Betway platforms in other countries. Players who use VPNs to access illegal sites in Belgium can be fined up to €25,000.
