KVA gets official role at Ksa: From quality mark to ally

Reading time: 2 minutes It’s official: the Responsible Affiliates Quality Mark (KVA) and the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) are joining forces to crack down on illegal online gambling practices in the Netherlands.
According to Steven Gillis Vrolijk of KVA, this is a recognition that the organisation has been working towards since its inception in 2021.
‘Our compliance team collects mountains of information every day. We use this to help the Ksa with enforcement. Since May, we have also been doing this within the alliance against illegal online gambling, which was set up by the Ksa itself,’ explains Vrolijk.
The recognition feels like a reward for years of work
For KVA, this collaboration is more than a formal agreement. It is a reward for years of work towards a safer and fairer online gambling market.
Since the opening of the legal gambling market, the organisation has been committed to clear standards for affiliates and strict control over who advertises.

The role of politics and enforcement
The alliance came about partly as a result of a motion by VVD member Rosemarijn Dral, who insisted on a tougher approach to illegal gambling practices. By combining information from KVA with the powers of the Ksa, action can be taken more quickly. This means shorter lines of communication and less room for parties who deliberately circumvent the rules.
