Actor najib amhali in the show “de tafel van gert”

Najib Amhali speaks about his gambling addiction

In “De Tafel van Gert”, comedian and actor Najib Amhali openly spoke about his gambling addiction. During his gambling addiction, he sometimes lost 7,000 euros per evening on online casinos.

At the time, he was also addicted to alcohol and cocaine. According to Najib Amhali, you could see the addiction on his face at the time. He could not sleep and the dark circles that accompanied it characterized this dark period.

He had a preference for the casino game “Roulette”. He often played this when he was drugged. During this period, he regularly sought help, but at first it proved futile.

Reply from Najib Amhali:
“At first I did it for my friends and family, but it didn’t work. But I was disgusted with the life I was living. I was really destroying myself.”

Old video

During the show, an old video was also shown in which, according to him, the traces of his addiction were very clearly perceptible.

Reply from Najib Amhali:
“In this video you can see the addiction on my face. Bags under the eyes, no sleep,…
A mask. I put on a mask at that point. But that mask falls when you ask for help.”

I’ve been clean for six years now

He’s been sober for six years now. He managed to stop playing by disappearing for a while and focusing entirely on himself. In the talk show “De Tafel van Gert” he says that life has become even more beautiful. He trained as an addiction counselor so that he could provide the necessary help to people suffering from the same problems.

Previously, Najib Amhali also spoke about his gaming addiction in a video by Dutch radio FunX with presenter Ouassima Tajmout in an episode of “FunX beseft”.
