BetBlocker experiences strong growth in French-speaking countries (including Belgium)

Since February 2025, the BetBlocker blocking software has been available in French. The impact was immediately visible in French-speaking countries.

In 2025, BetBlocker further expanded its range by adding French to its application. With this addition, use of the application has increased significantly in Belgium, France and Quebec.

In addition to French, languages such as Italian, Japanese, Czech and three Zambian dialects have been added. This broadens access and makes the tool available to more people around the world. 

New users are flocking from French-speaking regions

The French translation of BetBlocker is a small update that has had a big impact. In France, the number of active users has increased by 229%. In Quebec, this figure has even risen to 246%. Growth is also being felt in French-speaking Belgium, although no specific figures have yet been published.

Language is important in helping with gambling problems, and this increase in users is proof of that. Without the language barrier, more people have found their way to support.

Brazil in the lead, France and Canada in the top 25

Globally, BetBlocker recorded more than 300,000 unique active users in 2025. This represents an average monthly growth of 154% since January.

According to the user report published by BetBlocker, Brazil leads the way with more than 64,000 Brazilians using the app. According to BetBlocker, the strong growth in this country is due to its collaboration with SOS Jogador, a local organisation committed to responsible gambling.

With the French version, the app has also seen an increase in users in Canada and France, which are also ranked in the top 25 countries with the most users.

Belgium did not rank this year, but this may be due to the app’s absence from the Play Store for five years. Until now, Belgian players were used to excluding themselves via the EPIS system, but they now have an alternative solution since the app made its comeback in May. Players need time to discover and try it out.

BetBlocker and EPIS differ in several ways

In Belgium, the legal EPIS system has been in place for a long time. However, it only covers licensed operators and only works in Belgium. BetBlocker goes further. The software also blocks foreign and unlicensed sites and works on any device, regardless of location or legislation.

It is a powerful tool for users. Especially now that it is becoming very difficult to distinguish between legal and illegal gambling sites, which are not subject to Belgian law.

Dutch and German-speaking Belgians can also use the BetBlocker app. 

This makes it an easy-to-use application that is accessible to all Belgians looking for additional security.
