EGBA expands with the arrival of Tipico
On 19 January 2026, the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) officially welcomed Tipico, one of Germany’s leading sports betting and online gaming operators, to its network of members.
A strategic reinforcement
The EGBA, the Brussels-based association representing the leading online gaming and sports betting operators established and regulated within the European Union, has welcomed Tipico as its newest member.
Tipico is no ordinary player. With more than two decades of technological experience in sports betting and interactive gaming, the group has established itself as the leading operator in its sector in Germany. Through its subsidiary ADMIRAL Austria, it also operates an extensive network of retail outlets. Today, the company has thousands of employees and manages one of the largest physical and digital networks in the German-speaking world.
The integration of Tipico extends EGBA’s influence in a market that weighs heavily in Europe’s regulated gambling economy, where regulatory complexity and the fight against unlicensed operators are daily challenges.
Maarten Haijer, EGBA Secretary General:
“We’re delighted to welcome Tipico to EGBA and to start 2026 with such a strong addition to our membership. As Germany’s leading online gambling operator with a strong track record, Tipico brings valuable expertise to our association and will reinforce our collective efforts to promote a well-regulated and sustainable gambling sector in Europe. We look forward to working closely with our new colleagues on our shared commitment to high industry standards.”
Towards enhanced cooperation for responsible gambling
One of the main focuses of the agreement between Tipico and the EGBA is the promotion of responsible gaming. In concrete terms, Tipico is committed to participating in the association’s working groups, which are developing best practice in a number of key areas:
- Responsible advertising, to avoid aggressive or misleading messages that could encourage excessive gambling behaviour;
- Player protection, in particular through technologies to identify risky behaviour;
- Combating money laundering, by strengthening compliance measures and checks on suspicious transactions at European level.
These initiatives are part of a wider movement by the EGBA, which recently contributed to the adoption of pan-European standards for detecting problematic behaviour and organises the annual European Safer Gambling Week, an event designed to raise awareness of responsible gambling tools among the public and industry players.
Jochen Weiner, Director of Public Affairs at Tipico:
“As a company committed to player protection and regulatory excellence, we look forward to contributing our expertise to EGBA’s important work. This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to promoting high industry standards and our fight against the black market for online gambling in Europe.”
A European dynamic at the service of players
Tipico’s membership of the EGBA is part of a wider European strategy for consumer protection, regulatory cooperation and the promotion of international standards. The challenge for operators and the authorities remains to channel the public towards legal, safe and transparent offers.
In a sector often criticised for its grey areas, the expansion of the EGBA with a member like Tipico symbolises a desire for unity and excellence. Thanks to this alliance, player protection standards, regulatory cooperation and responsible practices are gaining in credibility and scope.
