Since 2026, legal Belgian casinos have been able to offer cryptocurrencies as a payment method. Circus and Casino Elite are the only two to offer this at present.
A turning point for Belgian online gambling
In Belgium’s highly regulated gambling sector, the arrival of cryptocurrencies as a payment method on a legal casino site is a significant development.
Circus is the first Belgian online casino site to offer cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals. Casino Elite has also recently started offering this service.
How do cryptocurrency deposits work at Circus Casino?
Circus accepts several of the best-known cryptocurrencies. Players can make a deposit using Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, Solana and Tron. Once the deposit is confirmed, the amounts are converted into euros at the exchange rate in force at the time of the transaction, then credited to the Circus account.
Transactions are usually processed within a few minutes, but this timeframe cannot be absolutely guaranteed. It depends on the cryptocurrency used and the traffic on the relevant network.
However, this speed comes with greater responsibility. Cryptocurrency transactions are final. It is therefore not possible to cancel a deposit sent in error. Before confirming the transaction, the player must check the wallet address, the selected network and the cryptocurrency used. An error in the address or network may result in the permanent loss of funds.
Circus also states that network fees may apply. These fees are payable by the player. However, transaction fees are covered by Circus. The conversion rate to euros is applied at the time of processing, which means that the amount credited depends on the rate available at that precise moment.
Crypto withdrawals subject to strict rules
Withdrawals in cryptocurrency are also possible, but with one important condition: when a player deposits in crypto, they must withdraw at least the equivalent amount of their deposit in crypto before being able to use another withdrawal method.
Circus justifies this rule on the basis of applicable anti-money laundering regulations.
To withdraw their winnings, players can request that the funds be sent to their personal wallet. Circus states that, following the request, processing may take from a few minutes up to a maximum of one working day. A confirmation is then sent by email, after which the funds are transferred to the player’s crypto wallet.
Why might part of a deposit be reserved?
If the amount sent exceeds the player’s active deposit limit, the excess is automatically placed on hold. This may affect players whose deposit limits do not allow the full amount to be credited at the time of the transaction.
In this case, the player can request that the reserved amount be deposited via their transaction history. The amount will be credited once the deposit limit has been reset. If the player wishes to withdraw the reserved amount, Circus advises them to contact customer service.
This clarification shows that cryptocurrency payments remain subject to the same control mechanisms as other deposit methods. Using Bitcoin, Ethereum or another accepted cryptocurrency does not allow players to bypass the deposit limits in place on their player account.
What players need to bear in mind before depositing
The introduction of cryptocurrency payments at Belgian casinos offers a new option for players who wish to use digital assets on a legal casino site. However, this new development also calls for particular caution. Deposits are irreversible. A deposit made in cryptocurrency requires a withdrawal in cryptocurrency of at least the same amount as the deposit. Deposit limits still apply, and network fees may be borne by the player.
