Warning about fake emails from the Gaming Commission

The Gaming Commission is warning the public about a campaign of fraudulent emails currently in circulation. The organisation urges everyone to be extra vigilant and reminds them of the precautions to take.
An ongoing campaign of fraudulent emails
A new phishing attempt is currently targeting recipients by posing as the Gaming Commission. According to the Commission, fraudulent emails are circulating using addresses ending in @kansspelcommissie.eu.
These messages may use the Commission’s name, logo or contact details in order to appear genuine and encourage recipients to trust them.
In response to this situation, the Gaming Commission has published warnings on its website.
“We are currently investigating the situation and taking the necessary measures.”
How can you recognise and deal with a suspicious message?
The Commission advises anyone receiving an email purporting to be sent on its behalf to exercise increased vigilance.
The authority reiterates several key guidelines. You must not open suspicious attachments or click on links whose origin cannot be verified. It also emphasises the importance of never disclosing personal, financial or confidential information in response to such a message.
What should you do if you receive a fake email?
Anyone who believes they have received a fraudulent email is asked to forward it to compliance@gamingcommission.be before permanently deleting the message.
This alert serves as a reminder that cybercriminals regularly seek to impersonate official bodies in order to gain their victims’ trust. The Gaming Commission therefore urges recipients to remain particularly vigilant when they receive an email purporting to come from its services, whilst investigations are ongoing.
