The conference on gambling-related harm returns in 2027

On 15 June 2027, the Centre of Expertise on Gambling will organise the second edition of the National Conference on Gambling-Related Harm. The event will focus on the consequences of gambling, addiction and problems associated with gambling behaviour, taking a health-centred approach.
A second edition following the 2025 event
The National Conference on Gambling-Related Harm will return to the Netherlands in 2027, nearly two years after the first edition, which took place on 24 November 2025. That inaugural event was held at Antropia in Driebergen, with the support of partners from the fields of research, public policy and frontline practice.
As with the first edition, gambling companies and their partners will not form part of the congress’s target audience. The event is aimed at those active in research, professional practice and public policy, provided their work addresses gambling from a health perspective.
The 2027 programme is yet to be finalised
The detailed programme for the conference on 15 June 2027 has not yet been announced. Practical information, including registration details, will be published at a later date via the Gambling Expertise Centre’s newsletter.
The ticket price has not yet been announced either. For the first edition, a ticket cost 150 euros and gave access to a full day of talks and sessions.
A first edition featuring several experts
The 2025 edition was opened by Arno Rutte, then State Secretary at the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security.
A panel of experts also included Floor van Bakkum, Dr Luc Hagenaars and Roos, who was introduced as an expert by experience.
The programme also featured several presentations and talks delivered by, amongst others, Belgian professor Bram Constandt, Dr Gerda Reith and the Dutch consumer protection association.
Yvon Jansma, director of the Centre for Responsible Gambling, also attended this first edition and subsequently shared her observations on the conference.
Gambling-related harm at the heart of the discussions
The second edition will once again focus discussions on the harm caused by gambling, addiction and the various forms of gambling-related problems. The event will therefore bring together professionals and specialists who work on these issues from a public health perspective.
The date has already been set for 15 June 2027.
