On January 22, 2024, La Française des Jeux (FDJ) announced its intention to acquire Kindred Group, Unibet’s parent company, through a public takeover offer valuing the business at nearly €2.5 billion. 

The transaction aimed to strengthen the international presence of the French group, historically known for its lottery and sports betting activities in France. 

After several months of procedures and the necessary regulatory approvals, FDJ announced the successful completion of its offer on October 3, 2024. The group then took control of Kindred, with financial consolidation beginning on October 11, 2024. 

This acquisition represented a major development in the European gambling market. It allowed FDJ to significantly expand its presence in betting and online gaming, particularly through brands such as Unibet and 32Red. 

FDJ UNITED: Unibet’s new parent company 

On March 6, 2025, La Française des Jeux announced another stage in its development by adopting the name FDJ UNITED. 

This new identity reflected the French company’s transformation into an international group operating across several gambling sectors. 

Unibet is now part of FDJ UNITED’s brand portfolio, alongside the FDJ brand in France and The National Lottery in Ireland.
