Betway becomes F1’s first betting operator

At the dawn of the 2026 season, F1 has formalised an unprecedented partnership with sports betting operator Betway.

A historic first for F1

For more than 75 years, Formula 1 had never formalised a global partnership with a betting operator. This situation has changed with the announcement of a multi-year agreement between F1 and Betway, a sports betting brand owned by the Super Group.

The partnership will come into effect at the start of the 2026 season and covers several key regions of the global market, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America with Canada and Mexico.

A new way to experience racing

Today’s sports fans consume competitions differently, thanks in particular to digital platforms, live statistics and real-time interactions.

Jonny Haworth, Director of Commercial Partnerships for Formula 1, explains:

‘Sports betting is now a natural extension of how many modern fans engage with live events. As a series with vast and complex data sets, our innovative partnership with Betway allows our adult fans to get even closer to the strategy and action that make this sport so exciting. While betting and sport have long gone hand in hand, this new product offering based on real-time, regulated data propels Formula 1® into a new, cutting-edge dimension that offers even more engagement and excitement for fans.’

Unlike traditional sports betting, the agreement between F1 and Betway is not limited to betting on the winner of a race or the world champion. The heart of the project lies in the integration of official data and predictive analytics from Formula 1 databases. This information will be used to create live betting markets during races.

Spectators will be able to bet on various strategic elements that influence the outcome of a Grand Prix, such as:

  • the appearance of a safety car;
  • pit stop windows;
  • battles between drivers on the track.

The aim is to bring fans closer to the tactical side of the sport, which is often invisible to the general public but essential to a team’s success. To make this new type of betting possible, Formula 1 is drawing on the expertise of ALT Sports Data, already the official betting data provider for the sport.

Betway wants to strengthen its presence in sport

For Betway and its parent company Super Group, this partnership represents a major opportunity for visibility in one of the world’s most high-profile sports.

The group’s CEO, Neal Menashe, praised the importance of this agreement.

‘We are delighted to sign the first agreement of its kind in Formula 1® for our Betway sports betting brand. This partnership reinforces our commitment to sport at the highest level and will ensure our customers have access to some of the most innovative markets during race weekends. The season promises to be competitive, with fantastic races around the world, and we look forward to being part of it.’

F1 in Belgium

Belgium is a very important country in the world of Formula 1, thanks in particular to the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit and the many races it hosts each year. However, the Betway.be website closed in August 2026. This means that even with the partnership between Betway and Formula 1, Belgian players will not be able to bet on F1 races with Betway. They can still choose one of the many legal Belgian sports betting operators for their bets.
