DJ website hacked to promote illegal casinos
A Belgian website devoted to news about DJs was recently hacked, leading to the publication of content promoting online casinos that are not authorised in Belgium. The page redirected users to gambling platforms that were not licensed by the Gaming Commission.
When a passion becomes a tool for fraud
Fans of electronic music were recently surprised to see an unexpected change on DJ’s on the road, a website for artists and DJs. A page entitled “Gaming Club Casino Review Belgium” had been inserted into the site’s structure, displaying elements typical of online casino review sites. This content clearly did not originate from its publishers. The page included descriptions of games, terms referring to bonuses and incentives to join online gambling platforms.

On analysing the page, our experts concluded that it was most likely a malicious infiltration: content inserted to manipulate the search engine algorithm and attract traffic to online gambling sites.
Cybersecurity experts say these attacks are not isolated. When legitimate sites are compromised to insert casino content, the aim is almost always to divert traffic to unauthorised platforms.
The Belgian legal framework
To understand what is at stake, it is essential to remember how gambling regulation works in Belgium. The Gaming Commission (GC) strictly regulates access to and advertising of online casinos for Belgian players. All authorised operators must display an A+ or B+ licence issued by this authority.
However, the sites mentioned in the hijacked content are not listed as holding a Belgian licence and do not comply with the controls imposed by the GC. Playing on this type of platform exposes players to serious risks and to the impossibility of recourse in the event of a dispute.
What are the dangers for visitors?
This type of hijacking is not just a question of referencing: it can have real consequences for visitors. In fact :
- Links redirecting users to platforms that are not approved in Belgium can lead them to register on illegal sites, with no deposit protection and no assistance in the event of a problem.
- The absence of a Belgian licence means that conditions of safety and fair play are not monitored by a local authority, which exposes players to the risk of fraud.
- Some of these foreign sites offer no legal guarantee if the platform refuses a withdrawal or blocks an account.
What should you do if this happens to you?
If a visitor encounters similar or dubious content on a site that does not normally deal with gambling, experts recommend :
- Do not click on links pointing to online gambling platforms, especially if they do not have a visible licence issued by a recognised authority such as the GC.
- Consult the Gaming Commission’s official list to check whether the site is legal in Belgium.
- Inform the site owners so that they can take technical measures (remove content, reinforce access).
These simple steps can prevent users from being exposed to illegal casinos that do not comply with the law or security standards.
