A fake website imitates the National Lottery

The Gaming Commission (GC) has recently added the website nationale-loterij-be.website to its blacklist. This illegal site impersonates the National Lottery in order to deceive Belgian players.
A well-established fraudulent strategy
The site nationale-loterij-be.website has been added to the GC’s blacklist. This site uses the National Lottery’s name to mislead players. Its interface is very different from that of the National Lottery, but inexperienced players could be deceived.
According to the GC, this type of site poses several major risks: a lack of safeguards for players, the inability to claim any winnings, and exposure to abusive practices, or even outright scams.
The GC reiterates best practices
The GC stresses the importance of using only official channels. It also encourages users to check the URL of the websites they visit. An unusual or slightly different address may be a sign of an attempted scam.
The National Lottery never requests sensitive information in a suspicious manner and applies strict standards regarding security and data protection.
How can you recognise a reliable website?
Given the proliferation of fraudulent platforms, there are several tell-tale signs that can help distinguish a legitimate site from a suspicious one.
A site authorised in Belgium displays a licence issued by the Gaming Commission. It provides clear terms and conditions, a contactable customer service team and secure payment methods.
Conversely, a fraudulent site often contains inconsistencies: errors in the domain name, a lack of legal information, unrealistic promises of winnings, or pressure to deposit money quickly.
Caution is therefore advised. Before registering or playing, it is essential to check the legitimacy of the platform using a list of legal casinos.
