Why are these sites blocked?
The Gaming Commission is the official regulator of the sector in Belgium. Its remit includes issuing the necessary licences, monitoring compliance with the law and imposing penalties for breaches.
When a gambling site operates without a Belgian licence, it falls outside this regulatory framework. It is not subject to the oversight required by law and does not offer the safeguards expected in a regulated market.
The Commission reminds players that anyone using an unauthorised site cannot claim the same rights as they would with a legal operator.
What players need to bear in mind
Before playing, you must check whether the operator is authorised in Belgium. A website accessible online is not automatically legal. View our list of legal operators in Belgium here.
The GC’s blacklist serves as a warning. It helps to identify platforms that do not comply with the Belgian regulatory framework and where players face real risks.
