Belgium the EuroMillions lucky country again? 5 jackpots in a single year

Belgium seems to have become the ultimate EuroMillions lucky country over the past twelve months.

On Friday evening, the grand prize fell on a Belgian ticket once again. A player won the entire jackpot of €80,220,498, making it the fifth Belgian EuroMillions jackpot within a year.

The winner played with the numbers 2, 12, 17, 25, and 39, along with the Lucky Stars 1 and 2. With these, the entire jackpot was claimed.

Although over €80 million is a life-changing amount, it is not even the biggest Belgian jackpot of recent weeks. Less than a month ago, another Belgian player won nearly €175 million, the highest lottery prize ever paid out in Belgium.

An unprecedented Belgian winning streak

Over the past twelve months, Belgium has seen a series of jackpots that is hard to fathom.

In January, 21 friends from Zingem shared a €123 million jackpot, making it one of the most talked-about lottery wins of the year. A few weeks prior, in December, a €142 million jackpot had already gone to Belgium. In last September, another €130 million was won, while in 2025, a Belgian player also scooped €50 million

With Friday night’s jackpot, the counter now stands at five Belgian grand prizes within about a single year.

This is remarkable, especially since EuroMillions is played across nine European countries: Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Austria, and Switzerland.

Is Belgium really the new lucky country?

This streak naturally begs the question of whether Belgium is currently experiencing an exceptional run of good luck. Statistically speaking, every draw is completely independent of the previous one. Every participant has exactly the same chance of winning the jackpot each time.

Yet, it is hard to deny that Belgium has been coming out on top remarkably often lately.

The odds of winning the EuroMillions jackpot are 1 in 139,838,160. That makes every single winner special, but five Belgian jackpots in a relatively short space of time create an exceptional streak that is also drawing international attention.

According to the National Lottery, such a succession of Belgian grand prize winners is highly extraordinary.

Belgium remains below the maximum jackpot

Despite this record-breaking streak, the largest possible EuroMillions prize has still not fallen in Belgium.

The jackpot has a cap of €250 million. That amount was previously paid out in France, Ireland, and Austria, where the maximum jackpot was won multiple times between March and August 2025.

As a result, the Belgian record prize remains for now at the nearly €175 million paid out three weeks ago.

Increased attention for EuroMillions

At the same time, this succession of Belgian multi-million prizes ensures that EuroMillions is firmly back in the spotlight. Every new jackpot fuels the hope that another Belgian could win the grand prize.

Although the odds remain astronomically small, the past twelve months show that Belgium is currently going through an exceptional period. Five jackpots within one year is a rare sequence that only further strengthens Belgium’s image as a temporary EuroMillions lucky country
