Couple wins Keno Jackpot Twice on the same night
A couple from Lyon had an extraordinary stroke of luck when they both separately won the €1.8 million jackpot in the Keno lottery during the La Française des Jeux (FDJ) draw on April 18, 2024.
The husband and wife, residents of Lyon, each chose their own numbers to enter for the grand prize. Their number sets were almost identical, except for the last number. During the draw, both the joint and individual numbers matched resulting in the jackpot falling on both tickets.

The wife was the first to discover that she and her husband had both won the jackpot. The couple was invited to the FDJ headquarters and were overjoyed to receive the cheques totaling €3.6 million.
The couple whose names have not been released plan to focus on volunteer work and gradually phase out of their jobs. They are not greedy and will also donate a portion of their winnings to charity.
FDJ’s Reaction
“We are very happy for these people,” said an FDJ spokesperson, who also emphasized the exceptional nature of what happened. “This is a unique event that rarely occurs. We wish them all the best.“
- The odds of winning the Keno jackpot are 1 in 1 million.
- The odds of winning the jackpot twice with almost identical numbers are astronomically small.
This is the first time that FDJ has confirmed that a husband and wife had a double win.
The news of the winners was shared on the website of the French lottery provider.
