Gaming Commission updates Responsible Gaming brochure

The Gaming Commission (KSC), the official regulator of the gambling sector in Belgium, has released an updated brochure. This is aimed at professionals who have contact with people who have gambling problems or who are already struggling with gambling addiction.

The brochure highlights various exclusion procedures as included in the Gaming Act. It also points out options with available help for players who are in difficulty.

Protection as primary goal

As a supervisor, the Gaming Commission’s primary goal is to protect players, in addition to a wide range of other important tasks. The Gaming Commission serves as an advisor to the Belgian government and parliament. And it awards licenses to operators that offer games of chance and betting.

In the brochure you will find, among other things:

How to recognize gambling addiction and the associated signs such as:

  • Money problems due to gambling
  • Lying about gambling
  • Uncontrollable gambling
  • Gambling to forget problems
  • Relationship problems due to gambling

A magistrate chairs the Gaming Commission, which carries out its duties independently. The brochure is one of the latest initiatives to provide vital information on exclusion procedures and available support.

Preventative action

Professionals who come into contact with patients or clients for whom gambling has become problematic will find guidance in the brochure on how to deal with this. These professionals can also identify in advance whether people are actually in trouble and act preventively.

The professionals can use the brochure to advise people on how to act and provide insight into the resources available for those struggling with gambling addiction.

With the brochure, KSC shows that it is closely involved in the well-being and protection of (vulnerable) people and monitoring responsible gambling in Belgium. Below you can find the information online.
