Circus escapes fine: No violations of gambling law!

Reading time: 2 minutes The Dutch Gaming Authority Ksa has investigated Circus Casino for possible violations of the Gaming Act over the past two years. A total of four investigations were carried out and in no case was a violation found. However, in some cases there were misunderstandings between Circus and the Ksa.
Investigation on bonuses, bets and limits
The Ksa investigated, among other things, whether Circus had offered bonuses to players who were not yet 24 years old. This turned out not to be the case. Also, no illegal bets were offered on the kickboxing match between Rico Verhoeven and Hesdy Gerges during the Hit It event and on matches of amateur clubs in the KNVB Cup.
In addition, the Ksa checked whether Circus complied with the rules for increasing playing limits at the request of players. No violations were found here either.

In two cases, Circus itself discovered errors in its systems that were in conflict with the Gambling Act. For example, the casino had an online slot machine with the prohibited autoplay function, and a player who was in the Cruks register could still log in and deposit. Circus has reported both errors to the Ksa and has taken the necessary steps to correct them.
Misunderstanding about advertising campaign
In the published documents you can also read about a misunderstanding between the Ksa, the municipality of Zwolle and football club PEC Zwolle. Circus was not a party to this. The club wanted to launch a campaign with a large image of club icon Bram van Polen on the IJsseltoren. The Ksa and the municipality were of the opinion that this was untargeted advertising and prohibited. The club ultimately opted for a digital alternative.
The Ksa’s investigations have not provided evidence that Circus does not comply with the Gaming Act. In some cases there were misunderstandings, which were resolved by Circus and the Ksa. The Ksa may be conducting similar investigations at other online casinos, but nothing has been announced about this.
