110 casinos in 24 hours: record broken!

Las Vegas, the city where anything is possible, has just been the scene of an unprecedented feat: a Dutch couple, Dominique van der Geer and Armijn Meijer, have set a new Guinness World Record by visiting 110 casinos in just 24 hours. An impressive performance that far surpasses the previous record of 74 casinos, and is testament to rigorous preparation, unparalleled stamina and perfectly mastered logistics.

Strategic planning

To achieve this feat, Dominique and Armijn left no room for improvisation. Their route was carefully planned well before D-day. They began their journey in Laughlin, Nevada, then flew by helicopter to Primm before continuing their frantic race in an SUV through Las Vegas. This organisation enabled them to minimise journey times and optimise every minute of their challenge.

To set the record, the couple had to enter each casino and place a bet on a traditional gaming table. To meet this requirement, the couple had to travel at high speed while ensuring that a gaming table would be ready for them when they arrived. A major logistical challenge in a city where casinos operate around the clock, but where tables are not always instantly accessible.

Exceptional performance

In each casino, their routine was regulated to the millimetre. As soon as they arrived, Dominique and Armijn would exchange a 5-dollar note for a voucher at an automatic cashier, quickly take a photo to immortalise their visit, and then head off without wasting a second to a gaming table. On average, they stayed no more than four and a half minutes in each establishment before hurrying off to the next one.

To keep up this pace, the couple had to be extremely well organised and disciplined. Every second counted and the slightest loss of time could jeopardise the whole challenge. Thanks to their support team and an optimised route, they managed to complete the route in just 21 hours, three hours ahead of the time limit.

Financial implications

Taking part in such a record does not come without a substantial financial investment. By visiting 110 casinos and betting each time, the couple committed around 1,100 dollars. Their aim was not to win money, but they did manage to recoup around $600 from their bets.

Their biggest individual winnings were just $77 for Dominique and $67 for Armijn, but that doesn’t matter: the real prize was elsewhere. By managing to complete their course without a hitch and winning every single one of their bets, they have written their names into the history books of Guinness World Records.

An adventure followed live and widely covered by the media

Dominique and Armijn’s feat did not go unnoticed. Thanks to their YouTube channel, they were able to broadcast their journey live, enabling fans around the world to follow their progress minute by minute. Their performance also attracted the attention of the specialist media and fans of unusual records.

Las Vegas, which already attracts millions of visitors every year for its unrivalled range of entertainment, is proving once again that it is the world capital of gambling and unusual challenges. The story of this Dutch couple is part of a long tradition of exploits achieved in this city where anything seems possible.
