Chestoption: illegal offer stopped
On 29 April 2025, the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa), the Dutch gaming regulator, announced that it had imposed a fine on Chestoption Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada. The company, registered in Costa Rica, is accused of offering illegal online gambling to Dutch players via the vave.com, vave-luck.com and 65avev55.com websites.
The charges against Chestoption
Chestoption Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada is a company registered in Costa Rica that operates several online gambling sites. According to the Ksa, this company offered online gambling to Dutch residents without holding the required licence. The sites concerned are vave.com, vave-luck.com and 65avev55.com.
Dutch gambling legislation is strict. Since the Remote Gaming Act came into force in April 2021, any company wishing to offer online gambling in the Netherlands must obtain a licence from the Ksa. This measure is designed to protect consumers and ensure the integrity of the gambling market.
The Ksa’s reaction
In response to these violations, the Ksa imposed a penalty on Chestoption. This measure obliges the company to cease its illegal activities immediately or face further financial penalties. If the supplier fails to comply with the injunction, a penalty payment of €280,000 per week will be imposed, up to a maximum of €840,000.
This action by the Ksa underlines the importance of online gaming operators complying with local regulations. Companies that fail to comply with these rules face severe penalties, including fines and bans from operating. For consumers, this case is a reminder of the importance of checking the legitimacy of online gambling sites before signing up. The Ksa maintains a list of authorised operators on its website, allowing players to ensure that they are using regulated and safe services.
