EGBA: Super Technologies joins the board of directors
The EGBA is expanding its board of directors with the arrival of Super Technologies. The stated objective remains the harmonization of safety and player protection rules across the European market.
The announcement was published by the EGBA on its professional LinkedIn network as well as in a press release dated July 16, 2026. It confirms the growing presence of Super Technologies (commonly referred to as “Super”) in the online gaming landscape on the continent. Less than two years after joining the association in October 2024, the operator has secured a board seat.
The company boasts one of the fastest growth rates in the European iGaming sector. For the EGBA, integrating such a player into its leadership brings a direct technical and commercial perspective in the face of multiplying national legislative reforms.
Safety and the fight against the black market: the Board’s priorities
The European market is going through a period of regulatory tightening, particularly in Belgium, where advertising restrictions are forcing a rethink of acquisition strategies. For Borut Petek, Director of Global Affairs at Super, this evolution shows that the sustainability of the industry relies on a strict and protective legal framework:
“Europe has the opportunity to define global standards for online gaming. To achieve this, operators, regulators, and policymakers must work together. Our top priority remains strengthening consumer protection and fighting illegal gambling so that the legal offer remains the safest option.”
Maarten Haijer, Secretary-General of the EGBA, welcomed the operator’s constant commitment since its arrival. He pointed out that Super’s hands-on expertise will be a major asset in keeping the market both competitive and secure for users.
From sports startup to global Tech giant
Founded in 2008, Super Technologies has outgrown its initial status as a sports betting operator to transform into a diversified technology group. It primarily relies on its proprietary tool, the playstack, to power its various brands internationally.
Today, the group manages commercial and technological activities in several strategic areas:
- Commercial markets: Belgium, Brazil, Greece, Poland, Romania, Serbia.
- Development hubs: Spain, Netherlands, Croatia, Romania, Brazil.
This growth is backed by leading financial partners. In 2019, the investment fund Blackstone acquired a minority stake in the capital with an investment of 175 million euros. More recently, in 2025, Super finalized a massive €1.3 billion refinancing alongside Blackstone and HPS Investment Partners (BlackRock), consolidating its global expansion capabilities for the years to come.
What is the weight of the EGBA in Europe?
Based in Brussels, the EGBA represents the leading online gaming and betting operators active within the European Union. The association works to channel player demand toward licensed websites, ensuring compliance with local regulatory rules. It also coordinates major annual initiatives such as the European Safer Gambling Week.
The impact of EGBA members on the European market is illustrated by key figures:
| Indicator | Volume / Share |
| Active operating licenses | 401 licenses |
| Geographical presence | 22 European countries |
| Share of the European iGaming market | Approximately 30% of Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) |
Operators affiliated with the association commit to applying strict codes of conduct regarding responsible advertising, anti-money laundering, and the detection of at-risk behaviors. The arrival of Super Technologies on the board of directors supports this guideline in current political debates.
