The Gaming Authority is fully committed to a sports summer with prevention, supervision and enforcement

The Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) anticipates an increase in (online) betting and gambling advertisements during the coming sports summer with events such as the European Football Championship. To protect players and combat illegal activities, the Ksa focuses on three tracks of prevention, supervision and enforcement.

Prevention awareness campaign for young adults

To inform young people about the risks of sports betting, Loket Kansspel, in collaboration with the Ksa, is launching the ‘Don’t play games with your money’ campaign. This campaign is aimed at young people aged 18 to 24 and aims to make them aware of the dangers of gambling. Young people are invited through various media to take a test that provides insight into their gambling behavior and, if necessary, refers them to help.

Supervision and enforcement

The Ksa is tightening its supervision of advertising and gambling offerings. Permit holders previously received a letter calling on them to comply with the laws and regulations. In the event of violations, the Ksa intervenes immediately. Enforcement of illegal providers and advertising will also be intensified.

Free blocking software

Players who contact Loket Kansspel will now receive a free annual subscription to the Gamban blocking software. This allows them to block all online gambling websites worldwide on multiple devices. The pilot, financed by the Addiction Prevention Fund (Vpf), will run for two years.

Notifications crucial

In addition to prevention, supervision and enforcement, reports from citizens and companies remain crucial. Reports can be submitted (anonymously) via the reporting form on the Ksa website. The Ksa uses this information to tackle illegal providers.
