Malta Gaming Authority suspends Goldwin’s license

The Malta Gaming Authority MGA has decided to revoke Goldwin’s gambling license. Why? Because the company did not comply with the rules. But what does that mean for players?

The company must ensure that they continue to have access to their account and that money is properly refunded.

What went wrong at Goldwin?

On September 25, 2024, the MGA revoked Goldwin’s license but yesterday made the decision public on its website. As a result, the company is no longer allowed to offer any gambling service. The reason? Multiple violations of the Maltese gambling regulations.

Goldwin was caught doing things that jeopardized the interests of players. They did not meet their obligations and were behind with payments. Of course, that is not the intention, especially not when it concerns players’ money.

Players get their money back

Despite the fact that the license has been revoked, Goldwin must continue to ensure that players can access their account. All outstanding credits must also be repaid. The MGA wants to make sure that players remain protected, even though Goldwin has been restricted

Goldwin can appeal this decision under Maltese law. Whether they will do so remains to be seen.

Goldwin has previously run into problems in the Netherlands

The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) fined the gambling company €6,794,000 in October 2023 for illegally offering online gambling to Dutch consumers without a local license.

The fine was determined at the time based on a percentage of the estimated turnover of over €97 million for GoldWin Limited from Dutch players, who visited the website 843,132 times.
