Is 32Red preparing to launch in Belgium?
The unexpected removal of the 32redbingo.com website from the Belgian Gaming Commission’s (GC) blacklist, made official on 23 April 2026, marks an unusual turning point in the regulation of online gambling in Belgium. Some observers see this as the first sign of a wider trend.
A removal that is attracting attention
The domain 32redbingo.com, which had been on this list since 5 September 2012 and was officially published a few days later in the Belgian Official Gazette, was removed from the GC’s blacklist on 23 April 2026. This is a sufficiently rare occurrence to raise questions.
32Red has historically established itself in the European online gaming landscape, particularly in the casino and bingo sectors. Today, it belongs to the FDJ United group, a player that has become a key player since the acquisition of Kindred in 2024. FDJ United already operates several major brands, including Unibet, bingo.com and Maria Casino.
An administrative decision… or a strategic signal?
There are several possible explanations for the site’s withdrawal, each revealing a different facet of the operators’ strategy:
- A simple cessation of operations or abandonment of the domain.
- The site no longer targets the Belgian market.
- Compliance with local regulations.
In a market as heavily regulated as Belgium’s, operators must meet strict requirements to obtain a licence. This includes, in particular, partnering with a land-based establishment and complying with advertising rules set out in the Royal Decree of 27 February 2023. Removing a former domain from the blacklist could be a preliminary step towards legal entry into the market.
Is 32Red preparing to enter Belgium? No official announcement has been made at this stage. But the timing of the removal, combined with the expansion strategy of the FDJ United group, is fuelling speculation.
For the time being, the removal of 32redbingo.com remains an isolated incident. No licence application or official partnership has been confirmed.
A strategy in line with market trends
32Red’s potential repositioning is part of a broader trend observed across Europe. On the one hand, authorities are stepping up the fight against illegal operators. On the other, the market is tending to consolidate around large groups capable of meeting regulatory requirements.
FDJ United perfectly illustrates this trend. Already firmly established in Belgium with Unibet, the group has an operational base and in-depth knowledge of the market.
Belgium, a market under close scrutiny
The Belgian regulatory framework is renowned for its rigour. The GC works to restrict access to unauthorised operators whilst strictly regulating those that hold a licence.
This model is designed, in particular, to steer players towards legal platforms. However, according to industry reports, a significant proportion of traffic continues to flow towards illegal sites, highlighting the persistent challenges.
