Malta Gaming Authority warns of illegal gambling websites: ‘Do not play here’

The Malta Gaming Authority MGA has issued an official warning. There are a number of gambling websites that falsely claim to be licensed. This warning is intended to protect consumers and to ensure the integrity of the Maltese gambling industry.

Which gambling websites are mentioned?

The MGA has specifically named five websites that pretend to be licensed by the Maltese regulator. These are: www.rayvietnam.net, www.rbvn08.com, www.raybet03.com, www.ray097.com and www.ray40.com. According to the MGA, all claims about a license issued by them to these websites are completely false and misleading.

The warning comes at a time when online gambling has become extremely popular worldwide. But consumers are also increasingly confronted with fraudulent websites. These sites operate outside the legal rules and therefore pose great risks to users.

Why is this warning so important?

The purpose of the statement is clear. It warns consumers that they should only use gambling websites that have been approved and monitored by the MGA. The regulator has strict requirements that gambling companies must meet in order to be licensed. This includes everything from player protection to financial transparency. Websites that operate without a license fall outside this legal framework and can expose consumers to financial and security risks.

The MGA urges users to always check that a website is actually licensed. A full list of authorized gambling platforms that do meet the strict requirements can be found on the official MGA website. It is advised to only play via these approved websites.

New initiatives from the MGA

In addition to this warning, the MGA also announced a new initiative to further regulate the industry. The regulator recently launched a new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) hub on its website. This hub provides detailed information on ESG reporting for companies that are licensed by the MGA. The aim is to ensure that gambling companies not only operate legally, but also act responsibly in terms of sustainability, social responsibility and good governance.

Malta casinos are considered illegal casinos in Belgium. In fact, Belgian players are not allowed to play at online casinos without a valid license issued by the Gaming Commission.
