The world’s most popular online casinos

A ranking published by The iGaming Europe highlights the world’s most visited online casinos. With over 101 million monthly visits, Stake dominates the market by a wide margin, but Africa, America and Europe are each establishing their own models.

Stake is in a league of its own

According to data highlighted by The iGaming Europe, Stake currently holds the top spot globally with 101.35 million monthly visits. The gap is wide enough to set the brand apart. No other operator listed exceeds the 100 million monthly visits mark.

Second place in the rankings does not come from Europe or the United States, but from Africa. Sporty Group, led by SportyBet in Nigeria, attracts 69.83 million monthly visits. This figure places the operator just behind Stake and ahead of several well-known names in the sector.

Caliente Interactive, in Mexico, records 47.91 million monthly visits. This volume makes it one of the largest operators listed by The iGaming Europe, coming in third place in the rankings.

Other major operators

Ranked fourth in the list, Chumba Casino from the United States attracts 37.33 million monthly visits. It operates on a model based on sweepstakes casinos, which allows it to operate legally across much of the country whilst many US states are still debating their regulatory frameworks.

Europe retains a significant position in the rankings, but it no longer appears to be the sole centre of gravity for the global online casino industry. Bet365, based in the UK and ranked fifth, attracts 36.58 million monthly visits. Its strong reputation is invaluable in a sector where the quality of the user experience, the breadth of the offering and the stability of the brand count for as much as advertising.

Betway Global, led by Neal Menashe, attracts 30.90 million monthly visits. Hollywoodbets, a brand founded in Durban, follows very closely behind with 30.12 million. This closeness between the two South African operators illustrates a regional market capable of producing globally competitive players.

The ranking is not limited to traditional operators. Stake already dominates with an identity strongly linked to cryptocurrencies. Gamdom, a crypto-casino with New Zealand roots, attracts 25.65 million monthly visits and ranks 8th in the list.

Nigeria is not content with just one entry in the top ranks. Bet9ja also features in ninth place, with 20.73 million monthly visits.

Spain, for its part, surprises with Lotería Nacional S.E., at 20.04 million visits. The only state-backed operator in the rankings comes in 10th place.

Italy is represented by Sisal in 11th place, with 19.72 million monthly visits. The operator is now owned by Flutter Entertainment.

BetOnline, an American operator with 19.35 million monthly visits, comes in 12th.

Betano, a Maltese casino, is in 13th place with 17.37 million monthly visits.

The 14th casino, Bovada, is American and receives 17.25 million monthly visits.

Greece features in 15th place with Stoiximan, which attracts 15.88 million monthly visits.

France appears in 16th place with FDJ UNITED, recording 15.64 million monthly visits. Its CEO, Stéphane Pallez, orchestrated one of the major European moves in the sector in 2024 with the acquisition of Kindred Group plc.

Finally, 1xBet, an operator based in Cyprus, records 14.82 million monthly visits.

Which of the sites mentioned are legally accessible from Belgium?

Belgium has a strict regulatory framework for online gambling. The Gaming Commission is the official regulator of the sector, responsible in particular for issuing the licences required to operate gambling and betting services.

Only two operators in the ranking have a legal presence in Belgium:

  • Betano
  • FDJ United via Unibet

Some of the casinos in the ranking, such as Stake, are explicitly on the Gaming Commission’s blacklist. Playing there from Belgium exposes you to numerous risks.

A ranking that heralds a battle for 2026

Who will be the world’s number one online casino by the end of 2026?

What is most striking, really, is not just Stake’s top spot. It is the diversity of the players that follow. Some come from long-established regulated markets. Others are emerging from regions that have long been underestimated. Still others rely on cryptocurrencies or specific legal models. The global online casino industry therefore no longer has a single face.

For now, Stake reigns supreme. But behind it, the race is wide open.
